FAQS
What is GOLFZON Tour?
Teams of 5 players from 12 Host Facilities will compete in network play linking GOLFZON simulators from each location in a virtual golf tournament for a $150,000 team grand prize!
When was the GOLFZON Tour founded?
For over a decade, GOLFZON has operated the popular GTOUR in South Korea. These professional golf simulator leagues regularly attract the country’s top golfers to compete on broadcast television for cash purses. Due to its popularity and star-making nature, GOLFZON launched the first-ever golf-simulator specific cable channel “Screen GOLFZON Channel” in Korea. We are now bringing this proven track record for creating high-quality golf simulator tournaments to North America and Europe.
What’s different about this indoor golf tournament?
The key difference between the GOLFZON Tour and other indoor golf tournaments is that the GOLFZON Tour is open to everyone, 18 and up, not just professional players, and it features industry-leading technology that allows for the competitive rounds to be played from the tee all the way to the bottom of the cup.
GOLFZON’s advanced short game and putting simulation make it a standout choice for serious golf competitions, with over $10 million in prize money awarded on our systems.
The GOLFZON Tour allows golfers 18 years and older of all skill levels—amateurs, club pros, and aspiring players—to compete as a team for real prizes in a professional-style virtual golf competition, supported by the most accurate and consistent simulation in the game.
When is the GOLFZON Tour happening?
Qualifiers at each of the Host Facilities run until September 30, 2024, and the GOLFZON Tour ends with the final two teams competing head to head for the $150,000 grand prize at the PGA Show in Orlando, Florida on January 23, 2025.
How are the facility teams selected?
For the inaugural season of GOLFZON Tour, we have pre-selected 12 host facilities to each field their own team to participate. We will have more locations participation opportunities in future seasons and would love for you to join! If you are interested in hosting your own tournament with another GOLFZON customer, please let us know and we’d be happy to connect you.
How are the team players selected?
Each Host Facility will independently organize, host, manage, referee, and score a qualifier competition for the purpose of selecting five members to represent their location.
How much does it cost?
No purchase is necessary to enter the GOLFZON Tour; but participants are responsible to pay standard fees for their use of simulator hitting bays.
How will the seeding rounds work?
Each Host Facility Team will play five 18-hole Matches Round Robin within division as the Seeding Round. Each of the matches will be a 3-person aggregate team score stroke play with a Win = 2 points, Tie = 1 point, Loss = 0 points.
Overall seeding tiebreakers will be determined by lowest team score for all rounds in round robin play. Points earned from each Seeding Round match will determine seeding for bracket play single elimination tournament.
The top 2 teams from each division will receive 1st round bye in the subsequent bracket play single elimination tournament.
How will bracket play work?
In the single elimination bracket play, teams of 3 compete head-to-head by linking their simulators together over the internet in a match play format with two of the best three player scores for each team counting on each hole.
For instance, if Team A scores 5, 4, 4 and Team B scores 5, 4, 3, we add up each team’s two lowest scores: Team A gets 8, and Team B gets 7. In this instance, Team B wins that hole and goes “1 up.”
If there’s a tie after 18 holes, the match goes into a sudden-death playoff — where all three players’ scores count. The first team to score lower on a hole wins.
How will the finale be played?
The final two teams will play in Orlando at PGA Show in January 2025. The Tour Finals match will be played 5 vs 5 in a match play format. Any necessary tiebreaker will be determined by a 1 vs 1 sudden death stroke play starting on the 1st hole of the championship match course.
