Prairie Dunes Delivers Unforgettable Moments
The first week of the GOLFZON Tour kicked off in style, with players stepping onto the stunning Prairie Dunes Country Club course, a challenging 18-hole par 72 layout. Known for its Scottish links-style design, rolling hills, and a reputation as a must-play destination, Prairie Dunes provided the perfect stage for this week’s virtual reality golf competition. Teams faced off in an intense simulator golf tour experience on the state-of-the-art GOLFZON TwoVision simulator, making every shot feel as real as if they were walking the Kansas fairways themselves.
West Division: Competition Heats Up
In Match 1 for the West Division, two powerhouse teams faced off on the virtual leaderboard at Prairie Dunes. Element Indoor Golf clinched a hard-fought victory over The Daly Round, earning their first 2 points of the season. With standout performances from Kyle Montgomery (87), Jon Tomaszewski (80), and Dominic Rosati (82), Element Indoor Golf edged out a total of 249 strokes, just 3 strokes ahead of The Daly Round, whose top player Casey Russell posted an 79.
The next match brought excitement as Golf Envy dominated The Green, racking up a total of 226 strokes thanks to Anthony Williams’ impressive 73. Meanwhile, The Green struggled with their scores, finishing at 260 total strokes, despite Marc Dwyer’s valiant effort with an 85. Golf Envy walked away with a well-earned 2 points.
However, the highlight of the day came from Birdiebay vs. Mulligan’s, where the competition reached its pinnacle. Birdiebay’s trio of Blake Randall, Tony Moss, and Allen Little all posted stunning scores of 72, totaling 216 strokes. Despite strong competition from Mulligan’s, where Ricardo Abraham Sanchez Coss posted a phenomenal 69, Birdiebay secured the victory with a 5-stroke margin. Notably, Alejandro Llaguno of Mulligan’s made history with the first-ever hole-in-one on the GOLFZON Tour, acing the challenging 4th hole—a moment that will certainly be talked about all season.
East Division: Strong Starts and Close Calls
Over in the East Division, Tee Times took the win in a close battle against Leadbetter Academy, securing 2 points after finishing with a total of 234 strokes. Francisco Manzanilla led the charge with an impressive 72, while Leadbetter’s Holly Clyburn posted the lowest score for her team at 78. Unfortunately for Leadbetter Academy, a total of 259 strokes meant they couldn’t quite close the gap.
In a nail-biter of a match, Golfplay narrowly defeated Tee It Up Golf USA by just one stroke, finishing with 237 strokes compared to 238. Jace Werry’s and James Skrypec’s solid 78 scores were instrumental in securing the win for Golfplay, pushing them ahead on the team golf tour leaderboard. Tee It Up Golf USA’s top player, Andrew Rueve, gave it his all with a 75, but it wasn’t enough to snatch victory.
The match between Golfzon Social and The Golf Rooms has been rescheduled due to time zone conflicts, but anticipation is building for their scores to hit the leaderboard rankings soon. Stay tuned for more updates as these teams battle it out in this thrilling golf simulator competition.
